How much can a fresher Chartered Accountant earn by starting his own practice?

Hi,

I am that fresher CA who started his practice within 6 months of passing.

I cleared in July, 2016 and started my office on 9th December, 2016. I stay in my hometown which is a small town in tier 3 district of Maharashtra.

As of what I can say that I have been lucky enough.

For quantification of income, I can’t comment because it is secretive and confidential. It is so much confidential that no one knows my number of clients and fees I earn.

I can just say that I come under 20% tax bracket and my accounting method for tax purposes is cash. So no one knows about my actual revenue billing except me as fees invoices are generated only by me.

This is the only thing that can be said on platform

But yes, I have been ethical and I go by books. This has helped to get me more clients within small time due to goodwill.

Inshort, you can assume that a new CA within period of 2 years in a small town can earn around Rs. 50000 per month ( post expenses).

 Has any average student made it to the Big 4 CA firms? First of all, please define what is the meaning of average? If you think that scoring 60% marks in 10th scoring 70% marks in 12th, taking much time to understand the concepts, sits at the last bench, is not good in academics, is considered an average, then I would suggest you to re-define the definition. An average is one who dreams a lot but does not take any action. So, if have scored 60% but are making efforts towards your goal, then you are not average. You are on the path to becoming the best in what you do. And apart from this, if you are an average guy, then your worth is more than the one who is excellent in his field, as the latter chances for improvement are less as compared to the former.   Let us assume 1000 people decide to do CA. They appear for  CPT . Only 40% pass.  400 survive They appear for  IPCC . Only 12% pass.  48 survive They appear for  Final CA.  Only 8% pass.  ~4 survive Out of 1000 people who entered the industry, with dreams in their eyes and aspirations of being CA’s, a mere 0.4% were able to achieve it.
