Has any average student made it to the Big 4 CA firms?

Has any average student made it to the Big 4 CA firms? First of all, please define what is the meaning of average? If you think that scoring 60% marks in 10th scoring 70% marks in 12th, taking much time to understand the concepts, sits at the last bench, is not good in academics, is considered an average, then I would suggest you to re-define the definition. An average is one who dreams a lot but does not take any action. So, if have scored 60% but are making efforts towards your goal, then you are not average. You are on the path to becoming the best in what you do. And apart from this, if you are an average guy, then your worth is more than the one who is excellent in his field, as the latter chances for improvement are less as compared to the former. Coming to the point,  yes an average guy like you and me can crack Big4 interviews. Note- Have a question for anything? Ping your question on my Linkedin profile( link in bio) and I would answer it through Sunday video call. I would sh

Why is the Chartered Accountancy course overrated?

Let us assume 1000 people decide to do CA. They appear for  CPT . Only 40% pass.  400 survive They appear for  IPCC . Only 12% pass.  48 survive They appear for  Final CA.  Only 8% pass.  ~4 survive Out of 1000 people who entered the industry, with dreams in their eyes and aspirations of being CA’s, a mere 0.4% were able to achieve it. Now they have to compete to get jobs! Between IPCC and Final CA, your schedule looks like this - Weekdays - 7 to 10 - Attend college in the morning 11 to 8 - Slog in the office By the time you reach home, you realize you got CA stuff to revise, any pending office work to do, you need to talk to your friends (If you still have them), follow your hobbies, etc. Weekends - 6–7 hour classes. For some people even Saturday is working, totally screwing up their work-life balance. Oh wait, for that a CA student needs to have a life! Add to this - outstation audits, college fests you have participated in, any other course you are pursuing and if you are in Mumba

How good is credit underwriting profile for chartered accountant?

You mentioned the job profiles the two companies have offered you. You mentioned that CTC of both companies are similar. But the most important thing you missed here is:  What's your interest and what excites you.  Having changed two jobs already in as many years, the most important thing I have learned is to go for the job in which you have natural interest. If its your first job then it becomes more important for you to make an informed decision. Your first few years in the industry will set the tone for rest of the career. While selecting your job take a long term view of 5,10,15 years from now. What you’d enjoy doing for the rest of your life? Don’t fall in the common trap of choosing a job based on limited criterion like CTC, Brand name or some ill-informed friend’s recommendation. Don’t be among those who go into job just for a sake of it and find themselves no where after 4–5 years and realize that this is not where they wanted to be. But then it gets too difficult to swit

What is the salary of a chartered accountant?

What is the salary of a chartered accountant? Getting a CA Final Rank takes you 5 years ahead in life. Like literally. The average pay for a non-ranker is 6–9 lakhs. A CA Final ranker FRESHER will at least on a minimum on a conservative basis secure a job of  15–18 lakhs and goes up to 27–28 lakhs with the marquee FMCG Companies. The big-ticket companies like P&G, Mondelez, HUL, RB, BCG, McKinsey, Baines takes  only CA RANKERS. So I would highly recommend all aspiring CA Students to redeem themselves and prove your abilities to the world by  getting a rank at any cost in Final CA. So from a job perspective, the salary on your first job depends on - Attempts and rank  -The bitter truth is attempts do matter in your first job. 14000 people becoming CA in an attempt company need criteria for filtering people. I completely agree that attempts are not a measure of your Calibre but that's how the system is. Big 4 articleship -  A big4 articleship gives the confidence to the recruite
